The ideas presented in the previous page evolved together with the development of my design ideas. The incorporation of plants into architecture was not just the acknowledgement of the value and attraction of greenery but an exploration of an ecological understanding of architecture as form and place. The work began with the Shenzhen project and is reflected in various ways in subsequent projects. My current concern is twofold - an understanding of the flows (air, water and materials) in architecture and the understanding of place as an ecological reference.
