Welcome to the Green Plot Ratio website. The concept was born in 1998 when, as I was trying to explain Leaf Area Index (LAI) to an architect, he used the phrase Green Plot Ratio to draw its analogy to the Building Plot Ratio - a metric that determines how much floor area is allowed in a building as a ratio of its site.

Since then, the Green Plot Ratio has gained a life of its own and is viewed positively in various countries. Singapore has adopted it as part of its Green Building rating while Malaysia, Thailand and China have taken some interest in the tool. The Green Plot Ratio is also part of a number of ideas that I am working on, all around my central interest in architecture as an ecological entity.

Having some time on my hands, I thought it might be useful to collect all this material into one convenient website.
